Chris Meehan

Chris Meehan

CEO

Chris, a founding principal and CEO of Winton, has over 20 years of experience in real estate investment. Prior to establishing Winton, Chris founded the Belle Property real estate franchise in Australia in 1999, and grew this business to circa 25 offices across Australia and New Zealand, prior to its sale to private equity interests in 2009. Chris holds an Associate Diploma in Business (Property Valuation).

Michaela Meehan

Michaela Meehan

Executive Director

Michaela is a founding principal and Director of Winton Partners Capital, and has overall responsibility for the administration and treasury functions of the group.

Michaela was a Senior Product Manager for the Danish brewery Carlsberg, in Copenhagen, from 1995 and 2001. Michaela was also a professional sailor for 13 years, competing at three Olympic Games as a member of the Danish Sailing Team.

Michaela holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the Copenhagen Business School.

David Liptak

David Liptak

Non-Executive Director

David is the Founder and Managing Partner of Spring Street Partners - a private US-based investment firm established in 1995.

David began his career as an analyst in the Arbitrage Department of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. in August 1982. In 1984, David joined Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. as a Senior Vice President in charge of the firm’s proprietary Arbitrage Department, a position he held until 1992. He then left to form West Broadway Partners Inc., an investment partnership that ultimately managed more than $700m in investor capital.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard.

Simon Ash

General Manager

With over ten years' experience spanning real estate, finance and investment banking, Simon is the General Manager of Winton responsible for deal origination, analysis and transaction execution.

Prior to joining Winton Simon gained much of his experience at Macquarie Bank, and in a variety of roles at Brookfield Financial.

Simon has a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Economics and Finance from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch.

Oliver Leighs

General Manager

Oliver is General Manager of Winton and has responsibility for the management and operations of the company. Oliver has over 17 years of experience in real estate, finance and investment, gained in a variety of roles across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom - most recently as CFO for Hearthstone Investments PLC (London). Previously Oliver was with DTZ Corporate Finance (London), Thornfield Properties PLC (London), Jones Lang Lasalle (Sydney) and UBS Global Asset Management (London).

Oliver’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University, Wellington.

Justine Hollows

General Counsel

Justine is responsible for legal oversight and risk management and compliance. Justine has over 15 years of experience in law as well as extensive experience in property development, transactional and leasing work. Prior to joining Winton, Justine held various legal roles in some of New Zealand’s top tier firms including Bell Gully and Minter Ellison. Most recently Justine was Senior Legal Counsel with Auckland International Airport. Justine has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Waikato.

Jean McMahon

Chief Financial Officer

Jean is responsible for managing Winton’s finance, tax and accounting functions. A Chartered Accountant, Jean has over 17 years of experience in real estate, finance and investment which she gained in a variety of roles across New Zealand, United Kingdom and Canada. More recently, Jean held the position of Financial Controller for Property for Industry Limited – an NZX listed property company, as well as McDougall Reidy & Co – a private property development company. Jean’s career to date has also included working for Lloyds Banking Group (UK) and Abacus Private Equity (Canada), as well as training as an auditor with KPMG (New Zealand and Canada).

Jean holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Bachelor of Science (Statistics) from the University of Auckland and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand.

Duncan Elley

Senior Investment Associate

Duncan is a senior investment professional with deal origination and execution responsibilities. He also manages portfolio assets post-investment.

Duncan has more than 15 years of experience in finance and investment management, along with extensive transactional experience acquired in former roles with Chenavari Investment Managers (London), Etesian Capital Partners LLP (London), and Capmark Bank Europe plc (London). Duncan previously specialised in banking and finance law within United Kingdom law firms and Buddle Findlay in New Zealand.

Duncan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch.

Matthew Dayman

Development Manager

Matt is responsible for delivery of the Launch Bay precinct at Hobsonville Point. Prior to his tenure with Winton, Matt was Development Director for Lendlease - Europe’s residential development business in London. In this role, he managed a team of twelve Development Managers with responsibility for the pre-planning consent and pre-construction phases of Lendlease’s residential project. This included a secured pipeline of circa 5,000 homes across a portfolio of mixed-use projects, as well as a number of large projects in advanced stages of bidding.

Matt has a Master of Business (Property) from RMIT University and a Bachelor of Architecture (First Class Honours) from the University of Auckland.

Richard Willis

Development Manager

Richard’s primary focus is progressing the Lakeside development in Te Kauwhata. Richard has more than 25 years of experience in development and project management, with roles in New Zealand and throughout Asia. Richard was previously with Southpark Group, where he gained experience in preparing feasibilities and managing a variety of projects, including resource consents and implementation of brownfield site remediation, master planning, utility planning and implementation.

Richard also spent nine years at Hawkins Group as Contracts and Project Manager and has held a variety of roles in Hong Kong, Beijing, Malaysia and Singapore.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Civil from University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

Matt is responsible for delivery of the Launch Bay precinct at Hobsonville Point. Matt has more than 20 years of expertise in the construction industry, with the past eight years with Ryman Healthcare. With a solid background in design and construction, his understanding of the design process is matched with a detailed understanding of the works on-site. Matt’s career path has involved him in all facets of construction. This has given him an expert understanding of ‘end to end’ construction processes and is an excellent background for his role of Project Manager.

Analyst

Matthew brings to Winton seven years of applied Big 4 experience within assurance and advisory roles, held with KPMG Auckland and for the Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom. Matthew’s focus is assisting the General Manager on complex investment and funding deals as well as the delivery of the Lakeside development, which is strengthened by his extensive experience in strategic business development and planning, financial data modelling and cash flow forecasting. Matt holds a conjoint Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Tax) and Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland.

General Manager Wanaka

Marc is responsible for all aspects of the Northlake development in Wanaka and the River Terrace development in Cromwell.

Marc has 18 years’ experience in the land development sector, including the position of General Manager Planning & Development with Queenstown Lakes District Council. Prior to this, Marc’s roles included seven years as General Manager and Director of a South Island property development company, and various project management and consulting assignments around New Zealand.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) and a Master of Regional & Resource Planning (Distinction) from the University of Otago.

Simon Palmer

Project Manager

Simon’s focus is overseeing the development of the Northlake Village Centre within the Northlake development. With over 19 years of experience gained in the New Zealand construction industry through a variety of roles, Simon has a well-rounded portfolio of successful development projects (both commercial and residential). Having held roles in both Design Management and Construction Management, Simon’s experience stems from a career which began with working on the carpentry tools, coupled with architectural draughting roles. Simon has previously held roles coordinating a large number of projects as part of a national refurbishment programme for Progressive Enterprises, followed by a four year term with commercial developers and the NZX listed Goodman Property Group. More recently, Simon has successfully completed projects as a Construction Project Manager for Haydn Rollett Construction.

Lauren Christie

General Manager Queenstown

Lauren’s role encompasses managing the Queenstown office and development management for Waterfall Park and Ayrburn in Queenstown.

Lauren has been in the building industry for more than 13 years in a wide variety of roles including in government agencies, research organisations, and client-side project management. Lauren has delivered a wide variety of construction projects including education, retail, hospitality, commercial, heritage restorations, and residential.

Lauren holds a PhD and Bachelor of Building Science (Honours) from Victoria University of Wellington. She has also attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business under scholarship. Lauren is also chair of PrefabNZ – an industry organisation for innovative offsite construction in New Zealand.

George Watts

George Watts

Design and Project Manager

George is a Landscape Architect who is involved in the master planning and design of Winton projects throughout New Zealand. George’s primary focus is aiding the Development and Project Managers with master planning and design solutions as well as overseeing landscape construction projects from concept to completion.

Before joining the team, George worked as an external Consultant for a Queenstown based landscape architecture practice and has eight years of industry experience.

George holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Victoria University of Wellington.

Jamie Boswell

Jamie Boswell

Development Manager

Jamie is responsible for delivery of the Northridge site in Cessnock, Australia.

His experience spans the property development industry as Development Manager in a range of roles from planning, design, approvals, construction and sales. Jamie is responsible for the approvals and delivery of a variety of projects in the Hunter region.

Jamie is a qualified registered surveyor with a Bachelor of Surveying from the University of Newcastle.

Hayley Borer-Poore

Financial Accountant

Hayley is responsible for supporting the Chief Financial Officer in managing Winton’s finance, tax and accounting functions.

Hayley has over 12 years experience in New Zealand, working within property and commercial law companies. Hayley has worked at Wynn Williams in Christchurch, and was the Trust Accountant at Morrison Kent Lawyers for nine years as well as the Practice Manager. Her most recent role prior to joining Winton, was with Qantas as an Assistant Financial Accountant.

Hayley holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Legal Executive Diploma and is currently studying towards completing her Chartered Accountancy.

Donna Mead

Donna Mead

EA to Directors and Head of HR

As well as heading the human resources functionality of the company, Donna is responsible for providing assistance to two of Winton's Executive Directors.

With over 30 years of operational and administrative experience acquired both in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, Donna provides Winton with an extensive knowledge base in office management and organisational structure.

Donna’s previous positions have included similar roles for worldwide executive recruiters Heidrick & Struggles, Bruel & Kjaer UK Ltd, and Bayleys Realty Group, as well as various high net worth individuals.

Juliet Mackay

Juliet Mackay

Office Administrator

As Winton's Office Administrator, Juliet is responsible for all office procedures, and uses her organisational skills to ensure smooth operations in a busy work environment.

In addition to front of house services, Juliet provides secretarial duties for the two General Managers, along with the wider development team.

Prior to Winton, Juliet was the Office Manager for Russell Investments where she undertook similar duties and tasks for four years.
