Hamilton to Auckland rail commuter service closer to reality
13/12/18Hamilton City Council is the third local Waikato body to endorse the Hamilton to Auckland passenger rail project in the last three weeks. The business case will now be submitted to the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) for a final funding decision at its meeting on December 14, 2018.
Should funding be approved, the intention is to deliver the initial start-up service in the first half of 2020. Huntly is marked as the first stop to be established and the council has agreed to lead a separate business case for a train station at Te Kauwhata to be considered once the service has started.
The passenger rail between Hamilton and Auckland would give Lakeside residents and the wider Te Kauwhata community easier access to the surrounding larger hubs. Making the Kiwi dream of a vibrant and relaxed lifestyle in Te Kauwhata even more attractive.
Lakeside is situated at 98 Scott Road, Te Kauwhata, approximately halfway between Auckland and Hamilton. Over 30 buyers have already taken the opportunity to guarantee their place in the Lakeside community since the show homes opened less than a month ago. Strong buyer interest continues from locals, and current Auckland and Hamilton residents.
Visit Lakeside via access on Scott Road, Te Kauwhata. The main entrance with a range of display homes is located at the end of Scott Road and open every Wednesday through Sunday 11am – 2pm.
