Piece by piece or home by home, Winton’s Launch Bay neighbourhood at Hobsonville Point has become a thriving community centred around the grass oval, once thought to be the parade ground for the airforce base.
The architecturally designed Launch Bay Townhouses and Apartments are the latest high-quality homes to be completed at Launch Bay. There are five different townhouse floor plans and varying heights to maximise the views of Waitematā Harbour and the grass oval. The completed project includes twenty-five four-bedroom townhouses ranging in size between 180 – 190 sqm, with 2-3 bathrooms and double garaging.
The Launch Bay Apartments are next to the townhouses and were constructed at the same time. With only four homes, each with two bedrooms two bathrooms, 105 sqm, and a carpark and storage locker, these apartments offer the convenience of apartment life but in a boutique format.
The finished products reflect the architectural vision of individuality and permanence within the strong articulated form, using the different exterior finishes of brick and timber to interrelate with the immediate surrounding neighbourhood and create a link to the site’s historical narrative.
With only a handful of homes left, most of the new Launch Bay Townhouses and Apartments are now occupied with new residents enjoying their new lifestyle on the water’s edge. It has been fantastic to see a mix of families, couples, and empty nesters moving in and hearing consistent positive feedback about the spaciousness of the homes and the high level of finishes throughout.
Construction started in 2021 amidst the COVID-19 haze of varying levels of lockdowns, which brought unique operating restrictions for the project team. Then, as COVID restrictions eased, wet weather challenges arose. While far from a straightforward project, coordination and teamwork of contractors prevailed to keep the project moving ahead to complete a high-quality project that everyone is proud of.
